What is a stuffed animal? It is a toy animal that can be made of cloth or other materials and stuffed with some type of material. The stuffing can be anything from straw to cotton or even beans. Stuffed animals can be very easy and inexpensive to make. If you have scrap fabric around you should be able to use it. If you are looking to make something for your child that is different and unique you can let them decide how it will look. Just have them draw what they would like, then cut it out. Take two pieces of material, rights sides together and cut them out and sew all but a small corner. Turn right side out and stuff, then complete sewing. To put eyes and a mouth on the stuffed toy, you can either draw them or, use buttons or beads.

Another easy project would be a snake. In Japan it is believed that the white snake brings prosperity, so try to bring some into your home with a white snake. You will only need a few items such as white fabric and thread, something for the eyes and the stuffing.

Homemade stuffed animals do not necessarily need to be made in your home, you can purchase them and add to them. At Christmas time they would make either a perfect decoration or an ideal gift. You could take a teddy bear and add a halo and white outfit to make an angel. You can also dress one up to be Santa. Some projects are so simple that even the children can get involved.
