Beaded Ornaments

The Christmas season is just around the corner and you may be thinking that you want to cut corners this year and make your own Christmas ornaments. If you’ve never made your own before, the best way to start is by making beaded ornaments. They are currently the most popular hand-crafted ornaments due to the fact that they are relatively simple to make. There are also a lot of beaded ornament kits to choose from complete with the supplies, patterns and directions.

You’ll want to have the proper tools when you begin. For instance, you’ll need pliers to bend the wires. The type of pliers you’ll need will depend on the type of wire you’ll be using and the shape you’ll need to bend the wire in. You’ll also need wire cutters. Generally, lightweight cutters will be all you’ll need. Lastly, you’ll need bead needles. The kit you use will probably include these needles, but if you want to be creative, you’ll have to get these separately for your own creations.

If you’ve never made your own ornaments before, it would be best to start with a simple pattern so that you don’t get frustrated and quit. As you become familiar with the process and realize how fun it can be, you can upgrade to more difficult designs.

Also, making your own ornaments can be a great family activity. You can do a production line, or you can each have your own pattern and make your own ornaments. Either way, sitting around the table and talking while you’re crafting is a great way to make memories. Then, years from now when you pull out those ornaments to decorate your tree, you’ll remember the good times and smile.
