Making stuffed animals

As nice as it is to go to your favorite toy store and get your kid the stuffed animal flavor of the month, it can be more rewarding to actually take a project of making up one yourself. The result will not only be unique to you and your kid, the animal you have created would probably be cherished and appreciated much more by the receiving kid.

Like in any other area of crafts, there are so many avenues one can take when making their own stuffed animal. It starts by choosing the animal you want to make and continues to what fabric you are going to use, what colors and textures will you put into your own creation. The beauty of it is, that there are no rules, and you can have your creative spirit roam and do what you find to be all yours.

If you choose a small animal, you will find that any cotton will do the job, however, should you decide to go big, that elephant or bear will look great in fake fur.

The more elaborate your project is, the harder it will be to sew. If you designed something that calls for many curves and turns, you will find the sewing task pretty difficult.

Once you made up your mind as to what you want to do. Choose a pattern and go out and purchase the material needed or use old scraps lying around your home. Make sure you prewash the fabrics prior to starting to work with it and then follow the pattern instructions.
