Candle Making

In candle making there are many different types of candles. Whatever the shape, size, color; and whether scented or unscented; the first step in candle making is to choose what style you are going to make. Once deciding this you are ready to begin the process of candle making.

First and for most the number one step in candle making you need to accomplish is temperature. The temperature of the wax, the room, and the container are very important in the pouring process. There are thermometers that are specifically made for candle making to help you determine the temperature. Depending on the type of candle you are going to make the manufacturer states the proper temperature need with every different type of wax.

Once you have your wax heating it is now time to add the other ingredients. Stearic Acid is an ingredient added to the candle wax that helps release the candles from their shape and causes the wax shrink when it cools. The color dye comes in either a disk or powdered form. When adding the color dye to the wax mixture, begin to stir gently as you add little at a time. When choosing a wick, you need to make sure the proper length and size. The wrong wick could cause the candle to burn wrong and could even cause a smoky flame. As you place the wick a simple pencil can be used to hold it in place.

Now it is time to check the wax mixture temperature. Once the mixture has reached 190 degrees will then add the paraffin. When the mixture is ready it is time to pour the wax into the mold. After the candle cools enough for touch, you can then remove the candle from its mold.
