Mountain Men

The mountain men had a hard life. With them living in the wild they were in danger all the time, if they were not in danger of the wild animals they were in trouble with the freezing cold if not that it was probably the Indians.  The mountain men were very popular as they knew how to take care of the people and were great help to the people in the little so called towns. They did a lot of fur trapping and that was there way of living for a long time, then when that started going away, so they had to move into doing something else so they started being guides for people that were moving from east to west and as that had been for a long time. Some of them would become officers in the service but it was hard for them to do anything else as they always went back to thinking only if we could become mountain men. The mountain men learned how to be friends with the Indian's, they learn to talk in different languages.  With the passing of years things just seem to keep changing and it seem that every where they turned they were not needed as much. So most of them settled down and made a business of horse shoerer others settled as farmers and lived there life out. The mountain men never will be forgotten, as they are very important to our country and in our history.
