train

The train arrived in Durango in 1881 and the tracts up to Silverton were completed in 1882.The train was going to abandon so this man Charles Bradshaw bought it and brought it back to life as a working train and made it into a train that gave people rides back and forth to Silverton. The people would take a ride on this train would ride to Silverton, would get off for lunch and see that community. The town of Silverton was an old mining town, when the Mines shut down the town became a tourist place. This train is a very beautiful ride up through the mountains, it also runs along the Animas river where you would be able to see some of the  rafter. The cost of the train had to be priced right in order for the people to be able to ride it.  Cost was five or ten dollars per person back in the early years.  Now days the price has been adjusted to fit the cost of the economy.  It is a very nice train ride and the entire hostess on the train are trained to be very nice and pleasant, they are also very informative.
